NSW launches 10-year music education plan
We’re really excited to see the Minns Labor Government launch ‘Time for Music’, its new 10-year plan for music education in NSW public primary schools.
The Plan includes a commitment to a minimum 20 hours per year of high-quality classroom music instruction in each year of primary school, alongside additional professional learning for teachers.
Dr Anita Collins, our Senior Advisor, said: “It is extremely pleasing to see the NSW Government taking such an ambitious approach to music education, recognising the contribution music learning can make to students’ broader learning and development.
A long-term, multifaceted approach to access and equity gives NSW the opportunity to harness music learning to support literacy, numeracy, wellbeing and engagement for students across the public education system.”
